wireless tables, inteface empty

Been trying to configure the mikrotik routerboard to work with a unifi ap, for social wifi portal, so it goes through a radius etc.
So far added
DHCP client
Radius Server
Hotspot setup/hotspot interface,
edited the hotspot under server tab.

Now when i click on wireless , interfaces tab is empty. =/

I am really clueless,

*edit typo

If you’re speaking about a powerbox, that’s to be expected, it doesn’t have wireless interface.

If you’re using it to power the other APs, and to act as hotspot, you’ll need to set the hotspot either over a bridge with all ether ports going to APs, or over the master port if ports going to APs are slaves.

It’s a MikroTik routerboard, my bad!

Yes, using it to power other AP, and act as a hotspot.

Ok, right now my ethernet1 is my WAN port. (if i read correctly it’s where my modem connects)
And ethernet5 is my hotspot port. (so wireless AP connects here)

So i just have to bridge my ethernet 1 to ethernet5? correct?

was playing around bridge and just kicked myself out of the routerboard,

Either Reconnect, or connect via the “neighbors” tab in winbox (mac-telnet).

You don’t need to bridge WAN to any other port (nor should). In you situation, hotspot will need to be run on ether5.

Imagine you add a second AP to ether4, you want to belong to the same hotspot server. In this case, yo will create a bridge, add ether5 and ether4, then “move” the hotspot service over to that bridge.

Ok, configured those from a clean config.
port5 is hotspot, (connected to access point)
port1 is wan, (connected to modem)

configured,
DHCP client on ethernet1,
Added radius server for authentication
Configured hotspot on ethernet5 & hotspot server profile.

Currently Wireless AP is not broadcasting anything, i did not set any bridge since AP is on ethernet port5 which is the hotspot.
Im not sure either what to do about configuring master or slaves, right now all are default.
What setting am i missing ?

thank you.

Which masters or slaves? UniFi isn’t compatible with CAPsMAN, if you meant the UniFis then you’ll have to resort to ubnt forum.

I was not sure about slaves & master ports. But after reading found out it’s just a name.
And yes, you are correct, i was trying to make a Unifi AP work with a Mikrotik routerboard, just for the captive portal.

Totally lost, thank you. I’ll try and ask for help on the unifi boards. =)

managed to get it to work, just plugged in a different wireless ap that wasn’t a unifi. =)

mods/to whom it may concern, thread can be closed. issue solved.

Hi,
Just to clarify

  1. Do you mean, I can run Hotspot service in PowerBox Pro
  2. If yes, can it handle 500 users

What I want is PowerBox Pro as Hotspot server, SXTG2HND connected to ether4&5 as AP
I understand I need to create bridge for ether4&5 and assign hotspot service into that bridge
tq

No, PowerBox Pro won’t handle 500 simultaneous users, PowerBox Pro has a L4 license which limits simultaneous hotspot users to 200.

Apart from that, it won’t have enough CPU power.

In any case, you’d be already limited by the SXTs, there’s no way each would be able to handle 250 users, I’d say 50 maximum with really optimized setup.

So, provided you deploy enough APs to reach that 500 user number, minimum RB to handle 500 simultaneous hotspot users would be RB3011 (L5 = 500 hotspot users max), while you’d better go straight to a RB1100AHx2 (L6, unlimited, with hardware power to spare) to properly size the main router.

Yes, that would be the manual way. The centrally managed, automatic provisioning way: use CAPsMAN
