wisp bridge vs vlan?

Hi people, happy new year.

I have some questions that is on my mind, we have a WISP network, around 500 users pppoe with MK in bridge mode with 18 RocketsM5(UBNT).

Our Radius is a commercial product which really works and support the load.

Our MK device CCR1009-7G-1C.

My question is related to for a WISP growing, is better to have the network in bridge mode or VLAN mode?

In bridge all the nics can see each other in a vlan they cannot see each other unless we open that communication in the firewall, right?

What is the recommendation?

Besides the technology (VLAN , bridge etc…), WHAT do you want to achieve? You want more users to manage?

Fine, there are some methods to do this.

I am not an expert in these big networks, but I suggest you seek advice from a consultant who has done this more frequently. And it does not matter if it is Mikrotik, Cisco, HPE etc… It is the methodology (like VLAN’s, separation, segregation etc…).


Definitely not in bridge mode. Each user should NOT be able to see the other users. They should be COMPLETELY isolated (unless a users wants a site to site VPN). How to achieve that? That can be done in several ways, like VLAN’s (is a good start), different subnets etc… But that is something for the consultant to explain and to implement.
