I am going to start WISP broadband service, but dont know about all the devices involved to deliver broadban wirelessely. I have googled almost everything from the internet, but sadly didnt found anything accurate regarding fresh wisp startup. I have found that mikrotik is the completly wisp device manufacturer, I have some questions regarding hardware selection, if any morderator or wisp owner can give me proper guidance fir starting an wisp broadband service, i would be very thankful..

Here is my questionary about wisp startup.
Questions:-

  1. Best base station hardware, (including Router, full duplex managed switch, server, etc) for atleast 200-300 subscribers.

  2. I am taking 10-20Mbps 1:1 symmentric bandwidth on startup.

  3. I want to offer upto 4-5mbps connection to subscribers.

  4. What type of sector antenas should i use 2.4ghz or 5ghz (mimo or other).

  5. Can i use mikrotik stx5 CPE as a P2P upto 10Mbps 1:1 for other small base station

  6. I will employ an Network Engineer (operator) to do all the technical work, what qualification will be needed by the Engineer (operator) to work with me.

  7. Can i mix hardwares to operate normally or have to stick with only mikrotik hardwares ( my best choice after nbreqding all about wisp hardwares like Ubiquity networks hardwares) is it fine to use ubiquity with mikrotik.

  8. There is no interferance in the air (no other wisp)

Oh no… Where are you going to provide your services?

Answers:

  1. It Depends on your area of installation, your type of installation.
  2. good enough.
  3. possible. but depends on signal quality.
  4. it also depends on your scenario (your radio your clients).
  5. yes but depends on several condition like distance, interference etc.
  6. this is the hardest question to answer.
  7. yes u can. use mikrotik as router. ubnt as wireless transmission system.
  8. its a very good sign. but how can u be so sure?

summery:
its a very sophisticated Network installation. You need well plan about your present & future network. wanna know more contact me with your details innocent.devilo@gmail.com.

My Advise:
If you dont find any qualified helping hand dont even think about this business.

Sorry to make you sad. But your questions mean that you have absolutely no experience even with your own personal installations and network management. That is really bad because you are just going to sink money and splash it in the toilet. I am glad that India is far away from me and I will not need to solve interference problems that you would probably caused if you were closer. Look around and ask yourself what is your advantage over others around you. Whatever it is, do it. It will be better for you and for others if you do something you are good in it than doing something you don’t know anything about.

If you are trying to invest in this and dont know a thing about it, look around you and hire some experts.

I am also from India, where are you going to start the ISP in India? The best option to start is start with 5ghz Ubnt sector antennas as base station, because even in non competitive areas we are getting interference problems due to home routers, but the access points or CPE are little bit costly in 5 GHz, for any queries contact me on the mail ashok.jagan249@gmail.com

At present i am running my service for 250customers with 40mb of data in mumbai regin, now i also want to start wisp in rural areas of palghar dist in maharashtra india, i need help abut which devices i can use as outdoor access point so that customers can direct connect their laptos and mobile to server and also low cost cpe devices as the area slected for business is undevloped and high installtion cost will not get me customers. please do help

@erosnyx626. Hi did you ever start the WISP? My adivice to this is look around, and know which devices are being used. Like my place I have seen that more ubiquiti is used more than MikroTik, so I decided to select MikroTik as a vendor to be different from the others. U will not have a lot of interference, and a high tower. This is the most important when setting up the WISP

I’m from Mumbai and i want to start WISP. can you guide me about
1)What are the hardware require for WISP with cable also.
2)from where can i apply for ISP licences.
3)What is Class B and Class C license different.
4)What are techniques to attract my client for these service.
5)Ubnt is good device for wireless transmission.
6)Finally what is investment amount is require with including bandwidth,Licence cost and hardware cost.

Sir i’m waiting for your reply.

… another joke?

router → cable → basestation antenna with access point

From the ISP Licencing office. Duh!

Ask your local ISP Licencing office.

Use plenty of bait.

Is this a question or a statement.
