I am looking in to setting up a wireless hotspot for an old historic downtown area. The location is in Texas.
What should one look for to make sure all the legalities are met? For example, do I need a license to run a hotspot in Texas?
Can anybody recommend a good internet service provider for this hotspot? I don’t imagine I would need much bandwidth as I believe there may be 20 people on at most at any given time, however, the city does put on annual events where there are hundreds of people and so for times like that it would certainly be great to be prepared.
I plan on charging a fee for access to the hotspot, can RouterOS do this? I haven’t played with the hotspot feature in a long time.
Can anybody suggest some hardware too? We are planning on setting up the equipment on a shed we have access to, and will put it up as high as we can. The historic downtown area’s buildings are mostly two story if not many one story buildings. So getting signal across shouldn’t be too much of a challenge.
