Wlan config

My ISP has given /28 ip’s and the gateway address happens to be the last one available on this /28

Gateway XX.XX.131.62

Network: XX.XX.131.48/28
HostMin: XX.XX.131.49
HostMax: XX.XX.131.62
Hosts/Net: 14

But the ip address on ISP router is XX.XX.138.93

So far will this work?

There is no pppoe which i am used to, will i have to set a static ip on the ether port which connects to ISP router and firewall/nat/scr-nat/out-interface=ether5/masquerade

Is the connection to the ISP’s gateway just a straight Ethernet connection using Network: XX.XX.131.48/28 ? Whose gateway is at XX.XX.131.62? If it is the ISP then that is fine.

All that seems odd is:

But the ip address on ISP router is XX.XX.138.93

If you are using PPP or similar to the ISP then their gateway address could be any old value but if it is a straight IP segment then I would have expected them to keep one address for their end of the link. Sounds like some detail is confused or missing.

I am told that the address XX.XX.138.93 is a service IP address for the ISP router, i am connected but in /ip neighbors no mac address or ip address listed all I have is in /interface “R” (running)for that port, can mac + Ip address be hidden ?

If that interface is configured with only XX.XX.131.48/28 then it will not e able to see the address XX.XX.138.93. I think something is either missing or wrong in the information.

Was given ip XX.XX.131.50 , GW XX.XX.131.62, subnet mask of /28 & DNS,I have internet access but what i find strange as mentioned is the fact ip neighbors does not display either mac or ip address as it did was before,

IP neighbors shows devices that are talking Cisco CDP or Mikrotik’s own variant of it on any of the discovery interfaces. If properly configured an ISP should not be leaking CDP to you over that link.

Just curious and wanted to learn more about Cisco and if I wanted use it in my network, where do I start?
@CelticComms what is your location & do u remote consultation?

I have been monitoring my network and my RB-493AH which I am now using as core to ISP has it’s CPU load going from 20 to 90%, on this router is NAT for clients + OSPF,ip routing and no bridging used, removed wireless package, no simple queues or bandwidth shaping being done,
Should I upgrade to either RB1100Hx2 or the CCR range?
