Using AT&T Gigapower service but not using AT&T RG, instead using 802.1x certs and have my RB4011 right into the ont.
Problem is my CPU usage is a little much on the RB4011, I want too get it lower and use a CCR instead.
Since AT&T Fiber doesn’t play nice without a switch chip (see PCUnite thread http://forum.mikrotik.com/t/bypassing-at-t-residential-gateways-with-mikrotik/135563/1), I’m thinking of having the RB4011 act as a modem of sorts, just authing and fastpathing.
If I then had our old not been used in years CCR1016 handle most of the routing, instead of messing with static routes, would OSPF be useful here?
I’m not familiar with Mikrotik’s way of handling this, but I’d like to know if I’m on the right track or if I should just say screw it and have double-nat or use static routes.
Ty and pog!
