WP WinBox Lite - How to use SSL to connect to the MikroTik?

Hi,
WinBox Lite is an application for Windows Phone. WinBox Lite do not have all features as WinBox but it is a very handy for mobile device. I am using it when I am connected to local network using WiFi.

When you add a new connection to this application you have to set IP and port (of course) but there is also a checkbox “Use SSH” and text field “SSH Connection”. I suppose there is a possibility to use it to remotely connect to your MikroTik from any location. I would like to be able to connect to my MikroTik remotely from the internet using this application but I cannot use VPN (WP added VPN support a few month ago but it is not possible to use it yet).

Please can you tell me how can I remotely and securely connect to MikroTik using this application? I tried to find information about the “SSH” but I still do not understand what it is and how can I use it.

Is there a reason you can’t use the external IP of the router? Yes, you can use SSH to connect with.

Yes I can use the public IP and I want to use it. I just do not know how to securely connect from the internet. I did not test it but I suppose I cannot just enter public IP, name and password and connect from the internet.

Will SSH help me to make secure connection? Please can you point me to documentation how to configure it?
