Hi,
I’ ve bought a Chateau LTE12 router and I get a “wrong username or password” error. The router is new, just put out of the box. I’ ve already performed a factory reset with no luck, still getting the same error. I am using the default credentials for Mikrotik, with user admin and blank password. Any ideas?
New devices have a password set, written in teeny tiny characters on the label on the device and also in the also teeny tiny piece of paper in the box.
Check that your device has not them.
Dont feel bad, just got a switch and ran up against the same thing. I looked on the bottom of the switch and there was a sticker with username and password. All good.
User name: admin and there is no password by default you will be logged in automatically to the Quick Set screen (> or, for some models, check user and wireless passwords on the sticker)> ;
To be fair, it is easy enough to fail to notice it.
I have found this approach (make a general statement, then carve out an exception, more often than not vague or generic) to be common in Mikroitik documentation.
How it is written:
User name: admin and there is no password by default you will be logged in automatically to the Quick Set screen (or, for some models, check user and wireless passwords on the sticker);
Which models?
How it should be written (IMHO):
User name and password:
For devices commercialized until dd/mm/yyyy with serial number up to xxxxxxx:
User: Admin
Password: no password set
For devices commercialized after dd/mm/yyyy with serial number starting from xxxxxxx
User: Admin
Password: Each device has a unique password written on the label of the unit and in the accompanying document.
