XBox One and Mikrotik

Hi I can’t seem to get a Xbox one working thought a mikrotik router (latest OS)

Can someone help me?

Any information you can post? Wireless? Wired? Any error messages?

Hi:
I think i found a solution,it is working for me. They are using IPSEC for connection on some games ports 500 and 4500 (you can not have ipsec vpn enabled.!!! )
V6.40rc14 mmips it should work on other versions
First see this link:
http://support.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-one/networking/nat-error-solution

Open ports on mikrotik for XBOX with nat OPEN
10 ;;; XBOX windows 10
chain=dstnat action=dst-nat to-addresses=192.168.X:X protocol=udp in-interface=WAN dst-port=88,3074,500,3544,4500 log=no log-prefix=“”
11 chain=dstnat action=dst-nat to-addresses=192.168.X.X protocol=tcp in-interface=WAN dst-port=3074 log=no log-prefix=“”

of course 192.168.X.X is my LAN interface of xbox one or windows 10 xbox program (windows 10 games), no need of upnp

If the problem is on Windows 10, enable Windows Firewall. To work correctly, Xbox Live requires the Windows firewall.

This seems to be a common issue with the absolute overly secure router os. I am still struggling to get a consistent connection.

When ever i restart my xbox, it works for a few minutes, then SIGN OUT happens and can’t log in again.

The NAT settings you suggested don’t work for me.

My xbox says. NAT Type: Unavailable.

This seems to be a common issue with the absolute overly secure router os.

RouterOS by default functions as a perfectly standard NAT router. There is no reason a device designed to work behind NAT (which an Xbox should seeing as that’s 99+% of the install base) should not work just as well as any other device. I am under the impression that most features should work fine with just basic NAT, as you get with an out-of-the-box Mikrotik

Unfortunately there’s a lot of confusing around networking for games consoles, partly because most of the people discussing it are gamers, and don’t really understand networking. Even Microsoft’s own support add to the confusion though. Their “network ports used” support page (https://support.xbox.com/en-GB/xbox-one/networking/network-ports-used-xbox-live), lists all the ports that should be “open”. Now, usually all ports work just fine behind NAT. There is nothing stopping the Xbox creating an outbound connection from port 88, having that NATed by the router, then getting a response without issue. But the support page above suddenly starts mentioning port forwarding, giving the suggestion that all these ports should be forwarded to the console. Even if some of these ports should be forwarded to get the best service, I’m certain some ports listed there such as 53 & 80 do not need to be forwarded. The mention of 53 & 80 clearly demonstrates they are talking about ports the Xbox needs to be able to talk out to the Internet, not ports that it should accept incoming connections to.

The only reason to forward ports on a router is to allow external systems (i.e Xbox live servers) to connect directly to the console, without the console connecting out first. I personally think the console should not require this (especially as many users won’t have the ability to configure it), but I’ll give Microsoft the benefit of doubt that certain features were impossible to implement otherwise. It would be nice if they had some decent documentation though that clearly listed the ports required to achieve the mythical “open nat” result.

Before messing with manual port forwarding, it’s worth trying the default Mikrotik firewall, but with uPnP enabled as in the below URL. Note that on Mikrotik you may need to specify the external and interface interfaces if not already entered. https://www.manitonetworks.com/mikrotik/2016/3/9/xbox-and-playstation-upnp

uPnP is supposed to allow devices to automatically configure port forwarding, so the Xbox can open the ports it wants. Simple idea, but then like other home networking protocols such as DLNA, everything that uses it seem to be flaky and unreliable.

I’ve tried these settings, but success on getting XBOX live working
