Processor Xeon 5405 quad core
NIC Intel PCI-E E1G42ET with 82576 controller (http://www.intel.com/Assets/PDF/prodbrief/320116.pdf)
Do they have compatibility or supported by routeros? coz i want to build server with this spec?
for more information i’ve searched through change log only these come up:
in 3.17: *) added support for Intel 10Gb PCI Express driver;
3.15: *) added support for Intel 82575EB & 8257GB gigabit ethernet PCI-Express cards;
3.8: *) added support for Intel Gigabit PCI-Express cards; (no explicit info gathered)
3.0rc6: *) added support for Intel EXPI9404PT PCI-E ethernet adpater;
We just tested a machine with two Xeon 5420 processors, on an Intel Server motherboard 5000V series. IT worked fine. So your system looks very similar, but i’m not sure about that ethernet. Never heard of it.
Edit: From the changelog I think it should work, the added driver numbers are really similar
Normi thx for the info, hope the NIC worked with no problem also.
macbeton, yes it’s for ISP and i want to replace old mikrotik server gateway due to heavy process.
i did and still, but sometimes when that old one got attacked or brute packet pass thru it was dying and
i can’t helped to see that again ![]()
and again i have things on it that related to much greater aspect, so regeneration must be accomplished.
Dunno if it may help, but i got some issues with
Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU X3360 @ 2.83GHz x4
Supermicro X7SBL
and Mikrotik RouterOS.
The system was crashing and rebooting without a pattern.
Once i disabled multi-core support ( /system hardware multi-core=no) everything turned ok and the system had a nice uptime. But it uses only one of the 4 processors of the Xeon.
Medianet, what the router is used for? we do not have any issues with our core routers (minimal functionality, routing + firewall), and had troubles with PPTP concentrator, that’s why it’s working with ‘multi-cpu=no’
I had issues with QoS Functionality (Mangle and queue trees) with NICs just bridged and no routing at all
I had issue with PPPoE Concentrator
I had issues with EBGP Router using only 25% of CPU (One processor), most likely because it’s not a multithreaded process.
all 3 of them are 3 brand new xeon quad cores

What version of routeros do you use?
What boot device do you use sata or usb ?
I have same hardware and can’t boot routeros from any disk.
System Freezes at loading system or crc error. http://forum.mikrotik.com/t/ros-not-working-on-ibm-server-from-3-5-any-news-on-3-18/25861/1
Hardware:
Supermicro X7SBL-LN1 Motherboard
2GB DDR2-800MHz ECC Kingston CL5 kit 2x1GB
Intel Quad-Core Xeon X3360 / 2.83 GHz processor
Intel PRO/1000 PT Dual Port Server Adapter (EXPI9402PTBLK)
With Ubuntu or vyatta boot without problem…
I boot sata SSD without problems.
No issues at all.
To install ROS i use an external USB cdrom and i think i used 3.20 version of ROS (3.22 is kinda corrupted)

I bought today SSD Patriot 32 GB Extreme Performace Warp Solid State Disk 2.5" SATA.
With SSD routeros work without problem.
Thank you Medianet
