Hello all –
Got a little issue: I have a couple of RB411’s (one of them is a ‘411U’), and a couple of Ubiquiti XR9 900 mhz cards sitting in a PtP configuration. They are on 200’ stretches of outdoor CAT5E and use Ubiquiti 24v POE supplies – and currently sit about 100’ from each other. All connects well, and everything seems to work as expected until a transfer load is put on the circuit. At any power level (all the way down to 1 dbm), the bandwidth test is unstable and eventually the router reboots, with an after warning message about losing power to the board. I can bring the boards indoors, drop the power to 1 dbm (to prevent receiver overload) and put them each on 6’ ethernet cables and it’ll easily push 30-40 mbps through in turbo mode.
I haven’t dragged out the multimeter on the cables yet, but even with a worse case voltage drop of 5 volts, I should have plenty of power to spare.
Anyone seen anything like this before?
I’m about to try out XR3 and SR71 cards in the same configuration to see if the behavior changes. If not, then I’ll throw the XR9’s in a couple of 433’s to see what happens.
If anyone can add any insight, I would be very appreciative.
peace
Robin
