Your routers internal bandwidth

Okey, what is your routers internal bandwidth? I’m interested in what various hardware can perform (especially RouterBOARD). I ran “Bandwith Test” to localhost “127.0.0.1” in one of my routers, and the transmitting bandwidth is around 1266 Mbps Average. It is an ordinary PC with AMD Athlon XP 1700+ CPU. Not very impressive, but I think it has something to do with the 266 MHz DDR SDRAM module. The CPU load is only 18%, so the bottleneck must be something else.

it might be the PCI bus

maybe that’s strange, but I can get only ~1050 Mbps in BW test (either there’s 300/300 Mbps on ether interface, or 800/800 Mbps)

Dual Quad Xeon 5335 = 1536 Mbps

I installed a 400 MHz DDR SDRAM module, and the transmitting bandwidth increased to 1400 Mbps. I’m surprised that there was a different at all, because the maximum bus speed on that motherboard is 266 MHz.

RB750 = 300 Mbps
