Hello!
First off, I just want to say I’ve been really happy with my hAP ax lite. I’ve also received some great help here before, so I’m hoping I might get a bit of that same expertise again. This isn’t a major issue, but it’s recently started to bug me a little.
Whenever I’m connected to this network (my remote island cabin) with my MacBook, YouTube automatically enables “Restricted Mode.” This means I can’t view or write comments. The toggle in YouTube’s settings is greyed out with a note saying:
“Turned on by your network administrator to help hide potentially mature videos.”
I’m currently using AdGuard DNS with an active Adlist, which has worked great overall (even TikTok ads are gone). My first thought was that this setup might be triggering the restriction. However, I tested by switching DNS to Cloudflare and Google, disabled the Adlist, and flushed DNS on my MacBook - yet the issue persists. I’m using a Starlink as my internet connection.
I’m using Safari, but I also tested Brave after flushing DNS with the same result. Interestingly, my iPhone on the same network shows YouTube comments normally (using the YouTube app), and when my MacBook connects to my home network, the restricted mode is off and everything works as expected.
It’s not a serious problem, but there’s one particular video I’d really like to comment on using a proper keyboard. ![]()
Would you happen to have any idea what could be causing this?
If you need more details, I’m happy to share configuration info. I’ve attached the current setup for reference.
Thanks in advance for your time and help!
