zero config solution on hotspot

we trying to set zero config solution on hotspot. situation is some laptop are being set static ip on their interface, is it possible to have zero config? no matter how what ip address are set on their laptop?

we googled and found tcpip stack. please advice

thx

I read that three times and I am not sure I understand what you are trying to say.

Static IPs on clients work fine with Hotspots, if that’s the question. If it is not I either hope that someone else understands or that you can give more details.

Edit: on a fourth reading, maybe you mean Universal NAT. That enables clients with arbitrary IPs to work. Simply set an appropriate IP pool in the Hotspot server profile for that.

hi, thank you for your reply.

here’s the situation:

Our wireless hotspot network are 172.16.0.0/24

and there’s a customer trying to access our hotspot, but his laptop wireless interface have a preset ip of 192.168.1.100

now he needs to turn off the static ip on his wireless interface and turn it do dhcp to access the hotspot network right?

any way to set even if he had static ip address preconfigured in his laptop, he still could access hotspot network without turning on DHCP?

hope i make myself clear

thx

Yep, you’re talking about Universal NAT. Just configure an IP pool with valid addresses under “/ip pool” and associate it with the Hotspot Server Profile and you’re good to go.

My own problem right now is that i cannot log in with the usernames on my winbox.

it will bring hotspot fine but immediately i put in a username or password, it will not log in and the system will hang.

i will have to restart the system over again to be able to use it. the config is ok but i dont understand why it it so.

if i disable the hotspot. the systems will browse normally but as soon as i create hotspot and put in a username and password, the router will hang and i will have to restart. what can i do.
