Wireless beacon interval and DTIM missing

Wed Dec 28, 2016 10:57 am

I think it is reasonable to be able to tune the wireless beacon interval and DTIM.

I my case, a 200ms beacon interval and DTIM count of 1 would be more optimal than the defaults.

Anyone else missing this feature with other basic APs feature?

Yes, I also think that in professional AP's like MikoTik should be option for changing beacon interval and DTIM count.
Best luck with that.

I would also find this option useful. It has been available with the TomatoUSB firmware for approximately forever. :)

+1 -- really need this feature to cut down on wasted frequency when deploying alot of APs density for coverage reasons

see this amazing info on how important this feature is (and that we def. should have it in a product as advanced at ROS)

+1 Beacon interval and DTIM would be useful (especially in crowded areas)

Hello,

Pretty much registered because I'm looking for this also.

I have an iot gadget that needs DTIM or beacons to be spaced out. DTIM works brill at 7. My choice was that or change beacons to 200 / 250 ms

had this set on my old Asus with ddwrt. iPhones had stable connection and I could detect them on NW reliably. with mikrotik I see now a lot of drops.

I just registered to underline that we need that feature... it would be a very bad joke if not implemented in one of the near updates!

For me, it's very important to be able to change the beacon interval. I'm used to do it with all my OpenWRT routers. If Mikrotik has this option, I will change all my OpenWRT routers to Mikrotik ones :)

Has anyone ever created a ticket at MikroTik support with an official feature request for this one?

I opened ticket #2019030822005631 in March 2019, support told they would pass the request to developers and find out if it is possible to implement on their hardware.

I remember seeing this option a few years ago, but now it is removed.

I think it would be useful to have this, or to have a small random offset to the default beacon interval.
I observe "waves" of "lost connection, no beacons received" on point-to-point links running with a CCQ around 80%.
I checked, and e.g. on a point-to-point link where 4 SSIDs are sent by the AP (3 virtual interfaces), I can see over time that 2 or 3 are received OK, one or two others disappear.
I guess there is some local indoor AP that beacons exactly at the same time as one of the local APs is transmitting, and they go under in the interference.
This continues maybe half an hour, and after that the connection is OK again. Probably the moment of transmission of the beacons has drifted by that time.
When we could set the beacon transmission time e.g. to 210ms instead of 200ms, and that local AP uses 200ms, this kind of problem could be resolved.

On many forums it is recommended to change the DTIM regarding the iPhone, but how? The iPhone 6 kept disconnecting and connecting, resolved on the iphone forums. . . . . but mikrotik has it in the ass.
The last plastic router also has this setting. . . .

This ?
I don't have iPhones at home, so I don't use it.
Be advised that's on a wifiwave2 device, though.
