"soon" in what perspective? Is it relative to time scale of v7 presence on this forum ... or is it relative to age if solar system?

What is the timeline?
if there is no cut-off date then it's just proof of concept for developers.

Alpha is exactly that - proof of concept (in a lot of ways)

They continue to work on 6.x, but 7 being a new kernel and everything means they have to make sure all existing functionality from 6.x is implemented and working properly with the major kernel changes (along with taking advantages of possible new efficient interfaces in the new kernels) so once they believe they've got a good working prototype, it'll move to Beta for public to help test.

Unfortunately, if we wanted to force their hand on v7 timeline/release schedule, they'd all but have to stop development on 6.x and that doesnt necessarily mean v7 will be quick, could you deal with 6 months+ of no further 6.x updates?

Software release cycles at the level of RouterOS are very time consuming things to get right. I'd rather have a good v7 then a rushed one.

Seriously now, hasn't anyone noticed the huge slowdown of development of v6 in the past months? RC builds used to come out almost every day, each with half a page of changes. Now they come out every two weeks or longer, with up to half a page of changes.

Couldn't this indicate that many MkTik devs have been allocated to a different project? Even more so, since this change happened after the inherent limitations of the v6 kernel and architecture started becoming show-stoppers in the utilization of the full capacity of newer chipsets?

In the past months, it has become my firm suspicion that v7 development which was obviously stalled for many years, has been revived. We shall see.

Hello Normis,

I do not understand why you are doing such secrets and not giving people serious information as it looks.

We are all on one ship, I think one line per week on the forum will not kill you.

You do not do that well.

Thanks for answer.

V7 beta seems to be already in development. You can see mrz's post:

Seems to be v7beta running on Virtualbox.

Indeed. The CCR-line is a key product for many customers. It would be very welcomed with an refreshed version with similar number/type of interfaces.
Manages some CCR's, RB750Gr3, RB922 and wAP's

I think, the first and most important step is to finish kernel transplantation at least RC state and this should has more and more priority over RoS v6.x train.
After this can slowly dropping v6 and fix v7 bugs and implement the new features as a transition.
I hope MT switch to the most recent LTS kernel which supports all of the HW & SW components.
My fear is the patient will die under transplantation. We can't use their products because of missing IPv6 full VRF support.
