OpenVPN .ovpn

Tue Oct 08, 2019 9:38 pm

- OpenVPN UDP protocol support
OpenVPN should be able to read (import) standard OpenVPN .ovpn files that work with the standard client, and that include
- remote server
- protocol specification
- compression options
- authentication parameters
- client certificate
- options like passtos, explicit-exit-notify, reneg-sec, etc. preferably every option of the open software

It is no problem when the file is converted to MikroTik-specific config an certificate storage

I'd rather implement functionality of all those options first, and then I'd think about config importer. ;)

I would hope that at some time MikroTik find some way to replace the entire OpenVPN thing with a recent version of the opensource implementation....
That will solve a lot of issues, at least until OpenVPN development further continues and becomes incompatible again.

They could have done that in last 10+ years. And they still implemented first tcp, and now (after finding suicide-proof developers) even udp themselves. So my guess would be probably not for official OpenVPN.
