Ros 7beta and USB ethernet

Tue Dec 10, 2019 12:31 am

Hi Mikrotik developers

i have a really serious problem with ROS7
in many home installations i have used Realtek USB-ETH adapter for WAN connectivity
Maybe you would laugh, but there is a good reason
In case of lightning, when electric charge are high i don't want to risk burning out routerboard attached to cable tv modem
USB adapters are cheap and i don't care if some of them burn out
so my choose is Realtek giga ethernet adapter vendor: 0x0bda device :0x8153
This setup has worked on many places with ROS v6.xx. USB adapter is shown as ETH interface, everything work fine, IPv4,IPv6, dhcp, etc
But in ROS v7, this adapter has become LTE ????
ok, i don't care, ETH or LTE, but this adapters does not work anymore.
DHCP IPv4 client grab address, but default route does not work, it is blue color most of time. Even if it is black, still not functioning as default route
DHCP IPv6 client does not get IP addresses
if i remove USB adapter, kernel will crush

is there any chance to restore functionality with this type of adapters??

Thank you for your report. We will try to fix this problem in the upcoming RouterOS v7 beta releases.
