VRF status with RouterOS v7

Sun Sep 13, 2020 4:26 pm

Hi,

what's the current status of VRF support with RouterOS v7 (beta)?

VRF now seems to have moved from IPv4 only to support both IPv4 and IPv6 (hey that's awesome in combination with BGP4 and MPLS), but I am unable to find a way to configure "Route Distinguisher" and Import and Export Route Targets.

You cannot find those parameters because VPNv4 is not implemented yet.

Support for both: VPNv4 and VPNv6 would be awesome using the new BGP4 implementation.

Is VPNv6 planned for implementation as well?

Since we now have IPv6 VRF support, I do not see the reason why not.

6PE and 6VPE would be phenomenal, as this is the most missing feature that blocks MTik out from our backbone/aggregation.
I also trying the VPNv4 but I don't find a docu about it in ROSv7, maybe it is not implemented either.

How about EVPN with vxlan? is that going to be added soon too?

I would personally hope that Mikrotik implement EVPN+VXLAN as well as EVPN+MPLS as per the RFC

I agree...we are doing a lot of EVPN + MPLS these days.

While we are talking about VRF, I tried to login to an IP in a VRF in 7.1rc3 and that's still doesn't work. Any idea when this could be supported MIkroTik?

Hi @mrz, is the VPNv6 implementation in the roadmap for RouterOS V7?

If you mean VPNv4, it is currently implemented. VPNv6 is still in the To Do list.

cannot import/export routes from VRF to another VRF locally

say:
RD 111:123
import 111:123
export 111:123
import 222:456

RD 222:456
import 222:456
export 222:456
import 111:123

on 7.8 it kind of worked ... upward the version roadmap ... not working. tested it today.

According to https://help.mikrotik.com/docs/display/ ... l+Overview, this feature is not available yet:
Some kind of mechanism to import/export routes from one vrf to another within same router
