Netwatch Feature Request.

Thu Jun 17, 2021 10:45 am

Can we please get an enhancement on netwatch that would allow us to set the number of consecutive pings that need to fail before the host is considered down?.

It's far to sensitive for use on things like wireless links or even just congested connections.

Until not implemented, you can use one global variable to count the fail and run the "fail script" only when the count reach one threshold

You can use my script Notify on host up and down for that (and a lot more).

Ah Thanks will look into that, hopefully get something working this evening/weekend.

Edit: Running it, although I ended up hardcoding the routing rule id as the find by comment code I had working vanilla netwatch didn't seem to work, I have a rather aggressive (5s) schedule going on so hopefully that's not going to cause excessive flash writes, using IP's rather than DNS names.

Edit2: Kicking myself a bit, easy way to solve the problem of finding the rule ID is to create a script to do that and run it from up-hook
