rOS v7.1 - IPv6 LL okay but not static public address

Sat Dec 04, 2021 12:44 pm

Hey Guys,
sorry to hesitate you, but IPv6 on my RB5009UG is driving me crazy.

I have a subnet 2a04:df80:0:1580::/64 and this is working - there are many clients connected to that network and are fully functional.

Today i have installed a brand new RB5009UG, i can ping it on the LL-Interface-Address but not on the static public assigned address?

The Multicast is sending out 10:22:19.411256 IP6 2a04:df80:0:1580:7a8a:20ff:fe41:3aa2 > ff02::1:ff2d:e6c: ICMP6, neighbor solicitation, who has 2a04:df80:0:1580:de2c:6eff:fe2d:e6c, length 32 but there is no response so IPv6-Neighbour-Lookup is failing:
# ip -6 neigh show | grep 2a04:df80:0:1580:de2c:6eff:fe2d:e6c
2a04:df80:0:1580:de2c:6eff:fe2d:e6c dev eth1.1580  FAILED

But pinging LL-Interface-IP is working:
10:31:43.921463 IP6 fe80::de2c:6eff:fe2d:e6c > fe80::7a8a:20ff:fe41:3aa2: ICMP6, echo reply, seq 178, length 64
10:31:44.921472 IP6 fe80::de2c:6eff:fe2d:e6c > fe80::7a8a:20ff:fe41:3aa2: ICMP6, echo reply, seq 179, length 64

Mikrotik RB5009UG configuration:
ipv6-ll-public.jpeg

Do you know what is wrong here?

Okay, i am testing from switch to switch (there are many CRS326-24S+2Q+RM switches in line) and on one switch there is multicast not working.

Will do some tests and when i have found a solution i will report it here.

/ipv6/route/print
Probably a config export would be good too.

Re: rOS v7.1 - IPv6 LL okay but not static public address  [SOLVED]

Okay, there was a switch between (PLANET Fiber Switch) that was blocking Neigh-Discovery-Packets. This was not visible on the first look, because IPv6 was functional for known hosts, but not for new hosts. There were no machanismen installed, so the switch was not acting as it should. After a reboot the IPv6 ND was functional.
