User Manager not supported on MMIPS and ARM

Thu Dec 14, 2017 3:45 pm

This is just a warning regarding User Manager support on different RouterBOARD platforms.

At the moment User Manager is not supported on SMIPS, ARM and MMIPS devices:
https://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Manual:User_Manager

"The MikroTik User Manager works on x86, MIPSBE, PowerPC and TILE processor based routers and CHR devices"

Two questions:

1) When will we see it ported to, at least, ARM? With phasing out the RB1100AHx2, and with the new RB1100AHx4, we got a new sweet spot for small to medium installations.
2) Does the MIPSBE count as MIPS?

New UserManager in RouterOS 7 is already compatible with ARM.
2) Does the MIPSBE count as MIPS?
Careful. Martin wrote MMIPS not MIPS. MMIPS is multicore, like the new hEX devices. MIPSBE is different.

This is great. Now, do we have some kind of timeframe of the V7 beta version?

Yes, MIPSBE is different from MMIPS. Does it count as supported, like MIPS? Could someone use a 2011 in this role?

Yes, now User Manager is now supported on all RouterOS versions except SMIPS (starting from RouterOS 6.42) which is done on purpose since SMIPS devices are designed for home usage and due to limited storage space should not be used to run User Manager.

Please feel free to report any issues that you have with User Manager to support@mikrotik.com
