I hope there is a simple answer to this. I am trying to set up a unit to use PPPoE with the User Manager. I have set it up exactly as the wiki said to. When I set up a user to try this the user manager logs show authorization success. However the AP logs show

18:16:04 pppoe,info PPPoE connection established from XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX
18:16:04 pppoe,ppp,info <pppoe-0>: waiting for call...
18:16:05 pppoe,ppp,info <pppoe-0>: terminating... - user username
authentication failed - radius timeout (6)
18:16:05 pppoe,ppp,info <pppoe-0>: disconnected
18:16:15 pppoe,info PPPoE connection established from XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX
18:16:15 pppoe,ppp,info <pppoe-0>: waiting for call...
18:16:16 pppoe,ppp,info <pppoe-0>: terminating... - user username
authentication failed - radius timeout (6)
18:16:16 pppoe,ppp,info <pppoe-0>: disconnected
18:16:26 pppoe,info PPPoE connection established from XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX
18:16:26 pppoe,ppp,info <pppoe-0>: waiting for call...
18:16:27 pppoe,ppp,info <pppoe-0>: terminating... - user username
authentication failed - radius timeout (6)
18:16:27 pppoe,ppp,info <pppoe-0>: disconnected

The client logs show

11:14:28 pppoe,ppp,info pppoe-out1: initializing...
11:14:28 pppoe,ppp,info pppoe-out1: dialing...
11:14:30 pppoe,ppp,info pppoe-out1: terminating... - failed to authenticate
ourselves to peer
11:14:30 pppoe,ppp,info pppoe-out1: disconnected
11:14:40 pppoe,ppp,info pppoe-out1: initializing...
11:14:40 pppoe,ppp,info pppoe-out1: dialing...
11:14:41 pppoe,ppp,info pppoe-out1: terminating... - failed to authenticate
ourselves to peer
11:14:41 pppoe,ppp,info pppoe-out1: disconnected
11:14:51 pppoe,ppp,info pppoe-out1: initializing...
11:14:51 pppoe,ppp,info pppoe-out1: dialing...
11:14:52 pppoe,ppp,info pppoe-out1: terminating... - failed to authenticate
ourselves to peer
11:14:52 pppoe,ppp,info pppoe-out1: disconnected

Can somebody please give me and idea as to what is going on here.

Which version are you running ?
Post, your /radius export configuration.

Do you have User-Manager and PPPoE server on the same router ?

I am running 2.9.50. The user manager and pppoe are on different servers. The user manager is on main x86 server here at my office and the PPPoE is on a RB133 AP.

/ radius
add service=ppp called-id="" domain="" address=10.10.2.1 secret="123456" \
authentication-port=1812 accounting-port=1813 timeout=300ms \
accounting-backup=no realm="" comment="" disabled=no
/ radius incoming
set accept=no port=1700

I have it working on another AP not using PPPoE but dhcp authentication by mac using the user manager server and another AP I have.

Ok it looks like it is a problem with the software load on that particular AP. I got it working just fine on another 532 AP and a different 133 AP. I will probably just blow out the config and start over on the one that isn't working. Also is there a way to make the user manager talk to a 2005 Microsoft SQL database? That is where all our accounting records are along with customer expire dates. I would like to have a customer quit working when the account expires. Can it be set also to when a customer expires and will no longer authenticate to the user manger because of this to allow them to go to just a payment page but nowhere else. I know there is a walled garden option in the hotspot area but can this be done out of the hotspot.

It is not possible to make User-Manager to talk to SQL server.
Well, for the original problem, you may start configuration from the beginning. If you want to know where is the problem, you can enable radius, debug logs on PPPoE server and manager, debug on the User-Manager and post it here.
Check that firewall is no dropping communication between RADIUS client and User-Manager.
