1. Settings are removed after restarting MT. (in beta3 it happened when cutomer logout & logged in)
eg. table columns don't know about others settings

There are two kinds of pages in User Manager Web: Customer Pages and User Pages. This bug probably pops out after you have logged into "User page". Am I right? I.e., after logging into user page it is impossible to log into customer page.

We are aware of this bug and working on a fix for it.

2. Admin login failed have to restart this issue still exists.

I don't know this is bug or it is made to work like that!

in settings table columns i have added few columns from hidden to visible then i logout & logged in again every columns were on the right place but when i logged in with same customer on other pc all columns were disappeared & set to default one.

I will have to set columns on every pc?

No, settings are stored for each customer, but not for each PC. So this is a bug. We fixed some bugs related to saving setting, but seems like, some still exist.

Which permission level the customer has? Owner/Full/Read-Write/Read-Only?

Do you type in the username or do you paste it into the box?
I noticed in 4.03b that many times if i copy and paste into any of the fileds, it doesn't save my changes, unless i type it out manually.
I haven't had cause to check in 4.04b, but i was thinking if you're pasting into the username field, it may be the same problem.

we login into one customer from 4-5 pc to register users, we can copy paste username & everything & it can be registered but u can see the background is blank & when we click on Add we get username is required message & when we click again on add the webgui logout automatically.

by mistake i opened http://routerip/username & login page appeared & i tried to login into it with customer id login was unsuccessful then i tried with correct link http://routerip/userman then also i was unsuccessful to login with customer id so i restarted router then i logged in successfully. i think this problem is similar with user page login issue.

50% CPU

Free Memory 1834.5 MiB of 1900.1 MiB

I have quadcore processor with 1GiB 10ports.

I use pppoe network Only.

I have this profiles 64kbps 128kbps 256kbps 512kbps

but i have opened 100mbps for local traffic coz v have dc++ in out local network but user hardly get 1mbps in pppoe from MT but without MT they get 10-12Mbps from ip network.

Just wanna know is it normal?

& if 165 users can cause 50% utilization what will happen for 500+ users??

I'm shifting all users to MT & m worried about this.

We made performance improvements, so check the CPU usage in next release. We have tested UM on several thousands of active users on an old Celeron PC, 333MHz, so there should be no problem on a QuadCore PC.

If you have specified rate limits 512kbps or lower, it is normal, that you cannot get more than 1Mbps

Have you tried throughput, using unlimited profiles?

The problem was related to saving two separate column ordering for "Sessions" and "Active Sessions". Now there is only one ordering for Sessions (used also for Active Sessions). The same applies to Active Users.

Do you use CoA? Without CoA it is not possible for User Manager to force HotSpot to close a session. When CoA is used by both, HotSpot and UM, session disconnect request is sent by UM to HotSpot, when closing session in web interface.

To use CoA:
1) In UM Web enable CoA for router: check both boxes under Router CoA and specify CoA port.
2) In HotSpot enable CoA by issuing

/radius incoming set accept=yes port=1700

(port must be the same as used by UM).

PPPOE does support only Disconnect requests (this is what you need in this particular case), it does not support dynamic change of session parameters.

In your case, do not check "CoA", check only "Disconnect request" under "CoA support" for routers in UM Web.

Turn on radius packet debugging on the PPPOE router by

/system logging add topics=radius,packet

and check what messages is PPPOE receiving, when you disconnect active session in UM web. And what is PPPOE sending in response.

I just tested Session Close in UM Web, it works - it sends Disconnect request to PPPOE, and PPPOE really disconnects the user.

Currently it is only possible to use external links for logo - to use logos which reside on other server.

In next release there will be a directory in routers file folder, where you can put in your logos and use them in UM web.

There was an issues in User Manager, version 4. When you logged in the user web page, customer page was not accessible anymore. This issues has been solved and next release of version 4 will function fine.

1) Approximate number of users = numberOfPages x numberOfUsersPerPage. We will think about showing total number of object in the table. Where do you suggest to show it?

I think i've come across something like this posted before, but i can't seem to find it anywhere on the forum.

In the past 8hrs, i've been trying to access the web interface of my UM 4.04b and i keep getting "invalid username or password" error. I've been using it for a while now and this is the first time i'm getting this message.
Eventually i was forced to restart the router (RB1000) and it allowed me login normally again, but only to start giving me the error message after a few minutes.

Any help?

for restarting MT it hardly takes 30secs but after restarting users won't able to login for 5 mins they get invalid username password, I have checked radius server status all request were rejected from UM but 5mins is to much

I have Observed this on every restart.

I have assigned a profile to users & he started using it but then also if i check his profile i see Waiting after profile but for few users i see active.

Also whenever we work on UM suddenly all users get disappear & we see white blank page then we have to relogin this problem occurs every 2 mins.

you can try adding 5 users in my UM you will see all errors & bugs we face.

This is not a bug but a small modification request from me in Session & User Session.

whenever i open Session or user session i see users 1st login details then i have to click on 12345 to change pages to see their last logins. In my view we use session to check users last logins & their latest usage more then their 1st login. So i request you to think about it & reverse it so that we can see latest update on 1st page & 1st login at the last page.

Also i notice the UM 4.04b doesn't respond to download limit set in profile. I set it for 1G download limit, but i have some who've used up to 3G and still counting!

There was an issues in User Manager, version 4. When you logged in the user web page, customer page was not accessible anymore. This issues has been solved and next release of version 4 will function fine.

We are aware of this issue. When you sent your database backup, we noticed, that startup for UM takes a very long time (5mins, as you said). That means, other services on the router are up and running after 30 seconds, but it takes a couple of minutes for UM to start. This is because of some caching which is performed on UM restart.

We have made performance improvements, and now it takes not minutes, but seconds to perform the caching. So check how long does it take for UM to start up in the next release of version 4! First reboot after upgrade could take more time to upgrade database (add indexes), but it should anyway be faster than now. And further reboots should be even faster.

A Sessions=active sessions; number of current sessions started by users
A Users=active users; number of users currently authenticated
If each user is limited to one active session, then A Sessions=A Users.
Sessions=total sessions ever opened since UM was installed and configured.

I checked you router, equal number of active sessions is displayed in both Winbox PPP active connection list and User Manager web.

A Sessions and A Users are updated only once every 5 minutes, that's why it could differ from actual values.

As eneimi explained, there may be more active sessions than active users, as each user could have more then one session active at a time.

A Users is not useless - it is a possibility to see users which have at least one active session at a time.

all my users have single session only & in my um it was showing A session around 800+ but in pppoe there was only 200 A session after i restarted everything become normal. this happen only 2 times till now. next time i will inform you without restarting..

BTW, some of your users have more than one active session - go to A Sessions, sort by username.

Seems like some of old sessions have not been closed properly by PPPOE, i.e., PPPOE has not reported User Manager, that session has been closed. Could be, that User Manager was busy at the moment, when PPPOE sent report (for example, at startup, when PPPOE was already running, when UM was still booting up).

Looks like PPPOE is not receiving response from User Manager. Either there is some configuration issue and PPPOE is not accepting UM responses, or UM is parsing radius requests too slowly and fails to send response in time.

In next release, performance will be improved, so please wait until next release and check, whether this issue still exists! Also you could check if your PPPOE and Radius configuration is correct.

I Just shared a shared user option to 1 from unlimited & save it then i got stuck on please wait message then i waited to 1 hour then also it was asking to wait then i refresh browser i got this error "Invalid/unknown response from server" then when i tried to login i get this message "A synchronization error has occurred. Click "Ok" to re-synchronize". please help as my users r increasing my server is going mad & m getting into trouble verymuch.

please try to understand my problem nothing is working fine everything goes down at peak time. UM get stuck on "please wait" we are unable to work on it & now it takes 30min to restart server.

Sometimes UM get down at peak time all new connetion get wrong username passoword error! I have check the logs everyone get radius timeout have to restart server then only it get started, I'm really in trouble now its get down anytime. if you think m lying you can check my graphs of everyday.

please keep me alive to see this fix in ur next release.

Hi girts, I'm really very frustrated with this issue, we can face error & bugs but we cannot face down time. this problem actually occurs at peak time when 225-250 users r connected. you have my server login you can check my downtime. if you cannot solve this problem or cannot support us then tell us, I will remove MT right now.

this is a very serious problem for us. after every hour its get down, I have responsibility of 2000+ users who r surviving coz of my stupidity. I can't wait anymore so please release beta5 today it self or fix this issue.

I'm also having a very tough time. The 4.04b i can now confirm is still very unstable. Every now and then when active users peaks, my RB1000 stalls ('please wait', as well as a number of other server error messages) and forces a reboot. When this happens users lose their profiles and I have to input profiles for every user from the scratch - for hundreds of users!

I don't use UM from multiple browsers etc. It's just buggy.

The only reason I upgraded from 3.x was because of limiting users to 1 active session. But it's been tough.

Hang in there asus; software development can be quite a thing. I'm sure they're giving it their best shot.

after every 15 mins new pppoe connections get radius timeout after 10 mins everything start working fine this thing happening from last 6 days when my users peak cross 200. now I'm feeling so hopeless & helpless that i don't have any answer to give my customers & to my boss. I have lied to my boss that MT team is working on it but from monday no one from MT replied to any of my posts no one interested in checking also. I have reconfigured everything & i don't find anything wrong in configuration. You can't even imagine how i have spend this last 6 days. my operators & customers ask dozens of questions but i don't have any of their answer.

They ask question like this
1. What is the problem & why its happening again & again?
Ans: I just know users getting radius timeout.

2. Till when it will be ok?
Ans: God & girts knows

3. Should we roll back to previous server [24Online]?
Ans: if i said yes they will sure kma.

This is ridiculous & i can't bare it anymore, please tell me what i should do? except waiting coz in 2 day my boss will throw MT server & ME in dustbin.

I have a pppoe network! I have configured "How to apply different limits for Local/Overseas traffic"

for overseas traffic i use UM profiles like 64k 128k 256k 512k

Local traffic to 4GB but it reach till 300MB

now if I keep 300MB for 200 users UM get down & everyone get radius timeout then i have to tick CoA support: Disconnect request if its unticked or untick CoA support: Disconnect request if its ticked! & apply then UM start accepting radius requests.

now i use this limits for local traffics
200 Users - 200MB
250 Users - 150MB

After shifting all users to MT my online session will be 600 so i will have to keep it 4GB again

but 150MB is very less & is this the right way to deal with this issue?

Please please please solve this issue in next release its a very major fault! "UM should accept radius request in any conditions"
even if server load is 100%

can you please lend me a temp l6 license for using UM on other server? or can i upload my UM database on ur server for authentication. now i have to keep local traffic speed at 50MBPS

I cannot ask my boss to invest more money to buy new license coz he is already frustrated with all this! but once it is stable then m going to buy 4-5 RB450G for my network.

I swear i will remove it when you will fix this bug.

As I mentioned before, your problem should be solved with next release. RouterOS is a complex mechanism, User Manager is just a small part of it. Therefore we cannot release a new version only because there are bugs in User Manager.

We will do our best to figure out, what we could do to help you before next release.

I noticed that if I try restoring via the web interface, it doesn't work, but through terminal, it works perfectly.

I've started proxy server.

i was trying to load latest backup on new server

i got this

Loading user-manager database backup
Failed to load user-manager database backup
action timed out - try again, if error continues contact MikroTik support and send a supout file (13)

from morning 4-5 time radius timeout happened i have to tick untick Disconnect request again & again!

radius timeout is very major fault please solve this issue as soon as possible.

users try to login for 4-5 times & when they r unsuccessful they shut their pc & they complain us that net was down from a week.

from how many days I'm begging u to solve this problem my hair started falling! I can't explain my users anymore.

please have some mercy & save me

I have a pppoe network & we run dc++ on network for sharing entertainment stuff with 4gb total speed. so i have to configured "How to apply different limits for Local/Overseas traffic"
but when i enable it cpu usage increases above 50 to 70% & UM stop working & everyone get wrong username password.

Sorry for a late response, I was on a vacation!

As I mentioned before, your problem should be solved with next release. RouterOS is a complex mechanism, User Manager is just a small part of it. Therefore we cannot release a new version only because there are bugs in User Manager.

We will do our best to figure out, what we could do to help you before next release.

What will be use of releasing new usermanager If no one will be using it! If you have solved & fixed all bugs in UM so you can release it independently like u did before for beta4 or is there any rules that you can't release new version within 2 months until everyone loses their hopes. I just wanna say that this radius timeout prob has spoiled all my reputation in office & spoiled my relation with all my customers.

release it before it's too late.

Asus, your problem is fixed in the next User Manager built, it will be released when all your reported issues are fixed

Downgrading is not recommended, you could lose most of your settings.

User manager version is the same as RouterOS. they are integral parts of each other, there are no separate versions
