We are aware of an issue, where User page is not accessible once you have logged in to the Customer page. I.e., if you open http://router.ip/userman , then http://router.ip/user is not accessible, until the customer session will expire (5 minutes). This issue will be fixed in the next release.

i understand that it is still being tested, im just stating that this is not ready in the slightest for deployment. Alot of the other RC have been very good, this is not one of them. No offence intended MT rocks!

this is not RC. it's beta. it's known that it's not working. nobody said that it's working in the slightest, because it's not. it's an interface test, where you can see the windows and buttons, but that's almost it.

Ok well this is the thing, i was running 3.2X on a my rb1000 with my user manager DB on it, i have about 300 or so users, I have upgraded OS versions many times without a problem before but have been unable to back up the database due to the MT not having enough spare HD space (yes i have most of the packages removed and bla bla, I blame it on the wisdom of have 64MB of memory in an age where memory is so cheap it seems ridiculous that the flagship router would be so limiting but anyways) see http://forum.mikrotik.com/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=26119 So your thinking this guy is going to screw himself with no backup, we yes your right but i have not been able to make it work and have not received instructions on how to do so in my thread or any others that i have read.
So start out Monday morning thinking im going to delete every log (by one page at a time because none of the commands or scripts to remove them work) and on about the 10th page i get some strange looking errors - of course you know what it is the database is malformed lucky me!

So I’m screwed right, the rebuild option fails, export shows everything is gone. i think well maybe if i upgrade to 4x there may be some way of restoring fix the problem, yeah right.

So I’ve hit rock bottom, I’ve tried screaming, praying crying drinking nothing seems to do it, i accept my fate upgrade to 4rc4 and being manually entering the records yes it does sux but it is what it is. so i have entered about half of the records and get reading on how to use the new user manager and see all of the profiles in this tread http://forum.mikrotik.com/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=33907 and relies that the RC4 listed up top is different to the one i just downloaded from the MT site, figures huh. So yes of course i want to use profile and of course i want the newest version so what do i do - upgrade of course.

Being my lucky day the records for the customer logon will not work under the new release so after stuffing around for another two or three hours i accept my fate reenter all of the records from the beginning.

Of course being a beta it is barely usable, the old story of your screwed if you do and screwed if you don’t.

PS. now UM is saying i am unable to login, i rebooted the router which is in the city and of course it had not come back online. Awesome.

Cool, the RB1000 was trying to boot from the CF card, removing it got it running again.

Yep im really glad the new UM database was on the flash card, did u catch my post on how i was having trouble backing RC4 up http://forum.mikrotik.com/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=31907

Awesome!

UM 4 has the option "Remove all" for logs. It can be used to delete all logs at the time.

In version 3 if you deleted a log, a backup was created for it - so you could make an "undo" and restore that log. That means, the space was actually cleared only either after a reboot, or when undo history was cleared (tool user-manager history remove [f]).

I suppose no one is interested in "undo" operation for log deletion. So next release of User Manager package (version 3) will make no backups of deleted logs. And those, who delete logs will not have the problems you described above. We apologize for the problems you had because of this undo "feature/bug"!

I am a huge fan of MT equipment, for us non linux users the user manager is essential, user manager under v3 is very stable but it is limiting, I am impressed with the soon to be available features of v4 I am just frustrated that all of the stars aligned at this time to create an incredibly difficult situation. Keep up the good work MT team, we are looking forward to a stable v4
