Radius is not Responding with Hotspot

Sun May 31, 2015 2:11 am

Good night friends,

I'm having problems to implement authentication by Radius Server in my network.
with RB750G.
I'd like my clients to be authenticated through a user name and password automatically generated by the concierge of my Hotel. I would like to allow access to internet according to the bookings made by customers at my hotel, ie access to the Internet would only be released to the guests of my hotel.

Well, come on. Once you have made all the Radius configuration and activated Hotspot function as shown below, I can not authenticate the Hotel guests created by using the user-manager. The message that returns is "Radius Is not Responding".
Image

When I create a user for my Hotel guests, within the RouterBoard the "Users" function, all clients can successfully authenticate.

My problem is to synchronize the settings between the RouterBoard and the UserManager, see the error:
Image

My Settings in UserManager are these, pointing to my Gateway (192.168.20.1):

Image

It was created "Jureci username" and password, and in this example, the login does not work, the message appears "Radius Is not Responding":

Image

Now, if I create the same user with the same password for the option "Users" within the RouterBoard the my Hotel guests can authenticate usually with success in my network.

What is the problem "UserManager" may have?

Excuse my English, I'm from Brazil.

Please check as below

1. Set IP address on both Winbox and Userman to "127.0.0.1" same as mnasir posted above (local host which mean your Winbox Router)
Userman (Router -> IP Address)
Image
Winbox (Radius -> Address, and must check on "hotspot" I didn't saw your image on this setting then don't sure you did check on hotspot or not)
Image
Make sure that you check to allow Radius use "hotspot"

2. In Winbox "Radius" I not use "Incoming"
Image

The others setting from your post look fine and from my client can log in with both Winbox user or Radius user depend on where you add. User with "R" is login from Radius.

Hope this help.

Your tip was valid, I do not have errors like:
Radius is not responding!

But now, I'm having another problem. See this picture below. This is my problem "invalid username or password"

Image

I create the user in the "USERMAN" and I am getting this message.

See my settings. I think I may be missing on the "server profiles", correct?

Hi marcelofares,

I though your problem should be from MikroTik network setting.

I saw you connect to userman with IP "192.168.10.1" but when you logon to hotspot it connect to "192.168.20.1" which I don't know how you configure your network.

For me I had only one network like "192.168.100.0/24" then I connect to hotspot and userman with the same gateway "192.168.100.1".

Hi parinya1957,

I have two sub networks.

10.x network - Computers of the management of the company.
20.x network - Intended for hotel guests.

I use VLANs in my environment.

The Radius Server, would be applied to the network 20.x

I don't have experience on using VLAN so I can't help you for VLAN setting.

For me if I want some PC or mobile to go out to internet without login hotspot I will binding that client (right click client on tab "Hosts" of Hotspot menu and select "Make Binding" and change Type to "Bypass") so it can bypass hotspot and access direct to internet.

The other way is assign each etherX to other address group and pool. For this method can study on this below link
http://networkingforintegrators.com/201 ... -mikrotik/

May be you need to find someone else to help on the VLAN setting because I quit sure that your problem was on the VLAN setting.

If you got error "no valid profile found" it was error from Userman not Hotspot and can happen by

1. you not have profile setting in Userman
2. that user was expired

Make sure that you have profile and limitation setting add to your userman.
Image

If you already set it then check in your user setting, for non-expire user you should see one profile assign to user. You can see it in user table column name "Actual Profile" too. For expired user this field will blank.
Image

In your previous posted on date June 04 I saw your user setting not have profile in setting

Radius is not Responding with Hotspot

Thu Aug 17, 2017 9:57 am

Hello all,

I also have a problem similar to him.
I tried to use
-Mikrotik router as DHCP server which is provide IP to users( but i do not use the Mikrotik router database or as a place to store users datas/account because memory size of Mikrotik is too small regarding to my requirement)
-Then i decide to store every of users accounts/datas on other separate server/computer with large amount of HDD size.
So I use Mikrotik hotspot on Mikrotik router + External server for usermanager
But when I create radius on the external server between the mikrotik webfig and usermanager, once user login it shown like "Radius server is not responding".

*for what you have suggested, using 127.0.0.1 the loopback IP address on both of the mikrotik webfig and usermanager, mean to use mikrotik as router and mikrotik itself as database holder to hold the users account.

Please help me to fix this problem, very thankful
Shelton.
