CCR 1009-8g-15 as Captive Portal

Mon May 30, 2016 12:22 pm

Hello there!! My question is simple: i need to use CCR's Captive portal without a dhcp pool running on the hotspot, how can i do that? The local network is on eth8 and wan access is on eth1. I need to authenticate clients on VLAN 105 to access Internet. Any thoughts on how to do it?

Are you authenticating via radius or you already have another captive portal on VLAN 105?

You can configure Hotspot to use RADIUS. You can also remove the DHCP server as long as you use a new one or DHCP Relay, but it may break Hotspot, if the configuration for Hotspot does not reflect the IP subnet that the DHCP server will be issuing addresses for.

Could you post a more detailed explanation of your setup, and possibly a diagram? It will help to give you a better answer.

Thanks for the answer TonyJr!
I'll try to make it as clear as possible, it's a long story!
So, i have 2 Huawei access points in city #1. Those AP's are used to access 2 SSID: Corporate LAN (Vlan 100 authenticated via radius and working fine) and Free Internet (Vlan 105 that i want working with Mikrotik's captive portal). It's a HUGE network in terms of dimention. The Mikrotik CCR is in city #2.
City #1 is a 192.168.12.0/24
City#2 is the core network, our main network and operates in the range 192.168.200.0-192.168.207.0/21
Both AP's have Huawei's native software for captive portal but truth be told, it's too limited. That's why i want to use Mikrotik's captive portal.
Actually, the DHCP server can be activated on the hotspot but cannot interfere with the corporate network. Vlan 105 is already mapped on city#1, its a 192.168.199.0/24 network via their own ADSL access. The Mikrotik in city #2 has it's own internet access if necessary, but it's a 10.10.0.0/22 network.
In conclusion, i want the STA's connected to Free Internet SSID on city #1 to authenticate via captive portal in Mikrotik stationed in city #2.
I hope you can understand the project's idea, dont hesitate to ask questions!
Again, thanks for your time!
