mAP 2nD Beginner Setup Help.

Tue Dec 06, 2016 2:48 am

Hello,

I would like to setup my new mAP 2nD as a router with the following settings:

WAN - eth2 - DHCP - PoE on.
LAN - eth1 - 10.13.7.1 /24- DHCP on from 10.13.7.51 - 10.13.7.99
WLAN - SSID Mikrotik Passphrase 67j8h6G5tV also DHCP on.

I can not figure out how to set it up like the above.
Any help is appreciated!
Thanks.

Ether2 is a power-out port. Why do you want to send the power to your ISP? Please clarify. Normally the setup is reversed. Ether1 is for your WAN and the Ether2 gives power to some kind of LAN device.

Hello normis, thanks for your response.
My WAN is actually another router/aerial that will be powered by ether2 PoE of this device, hence why I need to reverse the setup.

You can reset the configuration of the unit, remove the defaults. Then connect with Winbox over MAC (because you won't have an IP on the device). Then configure IP addresses on both ports, DHCP server on Ether1, DHCP client (I guess?) on the Ether2 and any other settings that you will need.

Thanks normis. Yes I can see what I need to do but don't seem to have any luck.
I reset the mAP - I log on to MAC address using Winbox, then I clear config and then use terminal - after reading the Wiki here's what I have used so far:
/interface wireless
set wlan1 band=2ghz-b/g/n country="united kingdom" disabled=no frequency=auto mode=ap-bridge ssid=MikroTik wds-mode=disabled wireless-protocol=802.11
/interface wireless security-profiles
set default mode=dynamic-keys authentication-types=wpa2-psk wpa2-pre-shared-key=67j8h6G5tV

/ip pool
add name=dhcppool ranges=10.7.13.51-10.13.7.99

/interface bridge
add name=bridge
/interface bridge port
add bridge=bridge interface=wlan1
add bridge=bridge interface=ether1

/ip address
add address=10.7.13.1/24 interface=bridge network=10.7.13.0
add address=192.168.88.1/24 interface=ether2 network=192.168.88.0

/ip dhcp-client
add dhcp-options=hostname,clientid disabled=no interface=ether2

/ip dhcp-server
add address-pool=dhcppool disabled=no interface=bridge name=dhcp
/ip dhcp-server network
add address=10.7.13.0/24 dns-server=8.8.8.8 gateway=10.7.13.1
I don't seem to get any internet or proper DHCP to my devices, I'm sure I have messed up or missed something out somewhere (sorry newbie/beginner here).
Any help is appreciated!

Correct dhcp pool end ip address to 10.7.13.99
As I understand you will have dhcp client on Ether 2. So remove ip address from ether2 (192.168.88.1/24)

Make a masquerade for ether2
/ip firewall nat
add action=masquerade chain=srcnat out-interface=ether2

Hello JB172, brilliant! That fixed it and now everything is working as I wanted.
Thanks normis and JB172 for your help.
