Hap Lite configuration!

Fri Apr 28, 2017 7:00 am

Hello guys, im total noob to networking and i'm trying for many many hours to configure my hap lite but i just cant.
I have a router from my ISP(which is locked cant change mode or anything) with PPPoe for wan.
I have my dsl cable to this router and an ethernet to eth1 of hap,then i have eth4 of hap to pc.
I have followed this guide https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=76nK1LXyPMA except for auto i put PPPoe.
Also i tried with this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OTW2fOQ_pT0&t=200s guide still cant have access to internet.
When I ping from hap it says no route to host!

Hi,

Did you ppoe client establish a connection?

There is a tick box under dail out that says Add default route.

You should then be able to ping.

Just remember to add a masquerade rule for the ppoe interface

Hi.

The Hap Lite can work in various modes using Ethernet and Wireless.
None product of Mikrotik supports xDSL connections directly, need some xDSL modem as bridge to Mikrotik do the PPPoE.

Since your ISP router does a pppoe, your Hap need to be configured with DHCP-Client on ether1.
Well, the default configuration of Hap is all you need at moment as I see.

Or, you try to ask them by PPPoE login and to leave the modem as bridge.

Ok thank you for your reply,I have set it up as ISP->isp's modem->MT->PC and i actually did all the things i wanted(Qos,Bandwidth limit etc.) and im ok as it is, but what would be the benefit of making my modem bridge and making the PPPoe connection from MT?

  • You know your external IP easily;
  • You know when had some disconnection;
  • Your internet firewall is managed by MT (no bridge, your modem act as internet firewall);
  • Port forward easy.
