RouterOS for custom device

Mon Jun 19, 2017 1:48 pm

Hi Experts,

This is a very basic question regarding RouterOS and MicroTik.
I am building a custom device as a PoC for an assignment that might, in future, expand into a commercial product.
This requires for me to build my own networking device, somewhat similar to a WiFi range extender, with some smarter features (that can not be revealed).
I would like to understand if RouterOS and Microtik are the right software/hardware to support such a PoC.
Is it fully customizable and open to use for commercial purposes?

Well routeros is closed source.
You should look at lede/openwrt if you need to customize stuff (hardware compatibility and features)

Agreed.
Thats the reason, I left RoS for development of special purpose WiFi devices (routers), like for integration of parental control or similar.
_OR_ simply better hotspot functionality.
