How to disable Ping in Mikrotix hex rb750gr3?

Mon Jan 22, 2018 6:03 am

I have been to grc.com, done their various 'ShieldsUp' tests, and passed everything except the 'ping' test. So I went into my software firewall and unchecked everything having to do with ping echo request in both IPV4 and IPV6, then went back and took the 'ShieldsUp' test again...and failed again. So I assume I have to disable 'ping' in the router. If this is easy to do using the GUI, I would like to know step-by-step how to do it....but if it is complex, please advise, and I will have a computer tech deal with it. I did google this, but only found CLI stuff that is out of my reach:

This sounds like what I want to do, but I need a GUI to do it. Thanks.

Umm.

You don't need to disable ping replies.

You can do it in the firewall if you really want to. But no real need.

Just disable firewall rule regarding ICMP protocol.

It is a good idea to disable PING (or filtering with address-list)

Why would you disable ping? What you could do, is protect against too many pings, but just disabling without reason is weird.

Just disable firewall rule regarding ICMP protocol.
Disabling ICMP altogether is complete and absolute stupidity, usually advised by people who haven't a clue, apparently like yourself.
ICMP is required and does several other things apart from Ping.

Disabling Ping is mostly pointless anyway.
