Problem connecting to a wireless network as a client.

Fri May 18, 2018 8:42 am

I am trying to connect Mikrotik with wireless AP according to https://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Manual:W ... _AP_Client.

On my AP I set the test wifi network without any security / passwords. I can not connect. Mikrotik does not try to connect at all.

MIkrotik hAPac2
Firmware 6.42.1

Interface <wlan1>
Mode: station
Band: 2.4GHz
Frequency: 2412
SSID: "My network SSID"

Hello, have you set up your AP correctly?

Yes. I used a TP-Link router for testing on which the wifi network has no security. I can connect to this AP with my phone or computer without any problem.

make sure frequency is correct (if you do a scan from Mikrotik and then select connect, it will pick up the correct frequency for you)

Problem solved. During configuration I changed the mac address for MIkrotik wlan1 and this caused the problem. I entered it at the very beginning of the configuration and later forgot to change it.

I can use the changed mac from the mac generator (https://www.miniwebtool.com/mac-address-generator/) if the address prefix is the same as the real one. If it is different, it does not work.

The problem was my fault.

Thank you all for your help.
