PCC Load Balancing and Failover + IPTV via IGMP

Thu Jul 12, 2018 8:54 pm

I am currently stuck on a case involving load balancing and IPTV.

I am using hEX (RB750Gr3). The following are connected to its interfaces:
  • ether1 - Local WLAN (VLAN, bridged) + Hotspot (using VLAN)
  • ether2 - IPTV (via WAN 1, different VLAN)
  • ether3 - Local (bridged)
  • ether4 - Local (VLAN) + WAN 2 (VLAN)
  • ether5 - WAN 1
At first, I configured WAN 1 as the main route, with IGMP Proxy for forwarding IPTV traffic throughout local network. All clients in local are able to use the IPTV network

When WAN 2 was added, I tried to configure load balancing (using PCC method) and failover for WAN 1 and WAN 2, with WAN 2 having more bandwidth (around 3.33x of WAN 1's).

However, after PCC was enabled, no client is able to connect to the IPTV network. They can only connect if I bind their IP addresses (in DHCP Server), and mark everything that comes from these addresses to go through ether2. On the other hand, by marking these packages, This will cause the client to lose general connectivity to the WANs (i.e. they can only access IPTV, not the internet).

Is there any way to enable both PCC Load Balancing with IGMP Proxy?
