Hi there! I have an RB750GR3 and was wondering what is the best aproach to move from a /24 to a /23 network in order to have more free IP addresses.

My current DHCP pool is 192.168.88.40-192.168.88.254

Is it just a matter of changing the DHCP pool to something like 192.168.88.40-192.168.89.254 ? and adding the new network under IP > Addresses ? anything else to cosider ?

First of all you should change router's IP address from 192.168.88.1/24 to 192.168.88.1/23. Then change DHCP server network address to 192.168.88.0/23. The last thing to change is extending DHCP pool.

If connectivity between LAN machines is a must, wait for at least "lease time" after performing first two steps and before performing last step so that existing DHCP leases expire and everybody receives new network mask. Probably things would work anyway, but lots of intra-LAN traffic would hit router (current DHCP clients would use router to send packets towards new DHCP clients).

you should probably try to segment your networks in order to increase security and stability.

It is not best practice to host more than 200 clients per broadcast domain.
