WIFI Password

Mon Jul 23, 2018 9:07 am

Hi All,
I'm new to MikroTik and just bought a mAP Lite. I came across a problem when setting up WIFI password - once I set a password and save in WinBox, the WIFI got disconnected and a new WIFI appears. The new WIFI name is its previous name plus a number "2" at the end. And if I connect to this new WIFI, I do not need to enter password.

Could someone please tell me where I set wrong? Thanks so much!

I think it's a Windows error, not an Mikrotik's AP.

download winbox, https://download.mikrotik.com/routeros/ ... winbox.exe
if mikrotik updated you need updated winbox

Thanks for your suggestions.

But I am using latest WinBox and latest RouteOS also.

I tried on different PCs and all PCs have the same issue. All of them use Win10. Does Win10 not support mAP Lite?

Any new lights on this case please?

Thanks,
Bei

Maybe you have wrong security profile selected in WLAN interface config

As WirtelPL suggested in post 2 the situation involves Windows 10 and not your Mikrotik mAP or Winbox. It is not a Windows error or a Mikrotik error.

If you go to Network and Internet and click on Wifi then select Manage Known Networks you will see 2 entries for your network name. One has the number 2 after it. Click on each name and select "Forget" then go back to your computer wireless, find your network name and login using your wifi password. This will be saved by Windows 10 and you will not be asked by Windows for the password on subsequent login's.

Thanks for the advice! You are right. It is not an issue. I let Window forget this WIFI and now I need to enter a password when connecting!

Thanks for all your help!
