Router Recommendation

Fri Aug 10, 2018 5:09 pm

Looking for a router, previously was using a tp-link router with a single antenna. Problem reception issues, signals dropped significantly. Which one to go for? Need recommendations.

TIA

Based on the amount of info you provided as your requirements, I can safely say get a Mikrotik

Your description is very vague. Anything from this page, maybe buy the best your budget allows?

If you can be more specific then we can advise better.

get one with a double antenna. The range wouldn't be an issue after that

RB4011 with wifi is a good investment.

I suggest the RB3011 as your Router/switch and for wireless I suggest the TP-Link EAP245 AC1750 Wireless MU-MIMO Gigabit Ceiling Mount Access Point

@mozerd, I wonder why you fancy the RB3011 (over e.g. 4011) so much?

@mkx
The 3011 has superior switch chip, it has Support for USB 3 providing additional storage and the SFP cage actually works great on GPON networks; users who want to use MOAB love this router ....
the only advantage the 4011 has is its quad core CPU .... but lacks GPON support and switch chip is lacking ... plus no external storage for MOAB.

Thanks for that info M0zerd. Good tips! and Merry Xmas!!

Buy why the TPLINK AP. My CapAC is a decent AP for the price and ubiquiti LR AP for those that want premium performance.

For $20 more ==> Performance wise The TP-link AP IS VASTLY superior to the CapAC and to the Ubiquiti LR AP .... That is why.

Wishing all a blessed Christmas and a happy, healthy and prosperous New Year.

I also stay with the 3011 over the 4011.

Too many reports about 4011 with wifi radios shutting down And I did see the SFP+ port shut down once in my test unit.
