Can I connect a Mikrotk HAP AC to a Cisco switch, with the SFP port ?

Thu Oct 18, 2018 9:49 pm

Hello,

This is probably a stupid question, but I don't know -and can't test as I want- so I would rather ask.

I have a Mikrotik HAP AC in production. It is linked to a RAD fiber modem using ethernet link ETH1. The others ports do their usual job, linked to computers and small switches.

But the SFP port isn't used actually.

I want to use it to connect to a Cisco switch who will be installed at a distant site (± 100 meters) using an internal optical fiber (in few weeks). Of course I will choose the transceivers correctly, depending of the cable and connectors.

Is it possible to use this port like this in this router, or can it only be used as INPUT ?

Cordialy,
Nethan

Sure you can use it to connect to a Cisco switch. but you need to buy SFP transceivers work both in Mikrotik and Cisco devices. i think this will meet your need https://www.fs.com/products/37199.html
