SLX LTE Kit

Mon Dec 03, 2018 2:37 am

Hi,
New to MikroTik. UK based.

Have just got an SLX LTE Kit (product code RBSXTR&R11e-LTE) for 4G access and to replace an existing modem and will connect to a Draytek router that is already deployed. It is running the latest version of RouterOS.

I need this modem to operate in 'Bridged' mode and pass the public IP straight through to the router (Draytek). However, i've heard conflicting arguments that this model does not support Bridged or passthrough mode? Also, I need to set this up so I can still have management access whilst sitting on the WAN port of a Draytek 2860.

Can someone help me get this setup?. I currently have the unit working well in a test setup as a standalone router, but need to get it connected up in service as above.

Many thanks,

Dan

The new LTE Kit models *do* support pass-through: https://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Manual:Peripherals
Can't help with the rest. I'm going to buy a SXT LTE Kit soon to do something similar.

There is solution for sxt lte and second mikrotik router. It is working for me.

SXT:
- set IP/Adresses interface from ether1 to local LAN SXT bridge
- remove ether1 from LAN SXT bridge
- create two vlan's (1 for the internet and 2 for management), both connected to eth1 on SXT.
- create Brigde_conf and add to it vlan_conf and ether1 on Bridge/Ports tab
- set the DHCP client on bridge_conf
- on the interface list, set WAN interface to vlan_net (1)
- in Interface LTE/LTE APNs change the passtrough interface to vlan_net
- disable firewall rule: defconf: drop all not coming from LAN

RB3011:
- be sure that ether1 is not added on bridge ports tab
- create two vlan's as on SXT both supported under eth1 (SXT is on eth1)
- on the interface list, set WAN interface to vlan_net (1)
- add vlan_conf to lan bridge
- create DHCP client with default route on vlan_net interface
- add masquerade in Firewall/NAT: srcnat with vlan_net interface

You have to adapt router configuration part in drytek as described for mikrotik RB3011. I don't know if is it possible. Or sell draytek and buy RB4011 ;-)

Many thanks for the replies and help. I’ve actually now got the unit deployed with eth1 for local management and eth2 for public IP passthrough straight to Draytek WAN. I will look at a VLAN solution to combine everything onto one interface at a later date.

What a fantastic piece of kit this is. The speed improvement alone is worth it and I do like RouterOS!

Quick question:- when shutting down RouterOS, is there anywhere that tells you shutdown progress and when it has actually shutdown safely?

Thanks,

Dan

Hi Dan

Very interested in how you got the bridge/passthrough working on the eth2 port as i have exactly the same scenario with a Vigor 2862. Currently the SXT unit is working on the WAN2 port (site has 2 BB connections) but is being seen as a PPOE connection and i would like to do what you have done.

Could you post the settings you used?

Thanks

Joe.

Out of the box eth1 & 2 are bridged. So:
1. remove eth2 from bridge (and optionally delete the bridge)
2. configure lte to pass-through on the eth2 interface
