SSTP VPN speed is too slow between MT router and client

Mon Jan 07, 2019 3:21 pm

Hy!

I am new in the MikroTik. I have a h952Ui-5ac2nD type of MikroTik router. The router connect with PPPoE to the internet (ADSL). The internet speed is 30/5Mbps. I created an SSTP server on the router and import the certificate to my Win10 computer. The connection is good, I can use the network through my SSTP VPN server. Today I connected to VPN from my workplace where has 50/50Mbps speed internet. I checked the internet speed (through VPN tunnel) with speedtest.com, and I surprised becouse of the actual speed. The download and the upload speed 3-4Mbps. Why? Why can not use the full MikroTik router speed?

TY

if you do not have hardware support for encryption AES, you will not get much speed.

Your results are actually very good considering the limited connection you have at home. Throughput is only as fast as the weakest link which is your 5 UP at home.
