Can't get full Gigabit download speed on RB4011  [SOLVED]

Sat Jan 12, 2019 9:24 pm

Hi,

For an unknown reason, I can't get the full Gigabit download Speed I should be getting with my current setup. I do get the 940mbps speed on upload tho. On download I reach about 740mbps max (tested both on DSL report Speedtest and speedtest.net). The CPU never gets higher than 25% so I don't think it's related RB4011 power. With the supplied ISP modem, I get 940/940.

Could you please test using ether1 instead of the SFP+ port?

Ether1 as wan or lan? I tought that the 10gb link with the switch would be plently sufficient

ether1 as WAN. Just wanting you to test to see what happens. Naturally, the SFP should be enough.

Is that with single connection or multiple?

Speedtesting on multiple connections if it’s what you meant

When with isp modem, it's also connecting with same diagram "Fiber from ISP -> ONT -> Ubi Switch SFP port on VLAN 35 -> Ubi Switch SFP+ port on VLAN 35 -> ISP modem" ?

Wondering if it's not related to MTU fragmentation? The MTU on uplink (1450) is lower than local lan (1500). Have you tried to set both to same number (1450) so that there would be no need to split packets?

I just got my first Mikrotik router (an RB4011) and have it setup with my fiber line.

I can get ~940mbits in both upload and download, and can sometimes hit as high as 945 - 950 in upload or download. This is using ethernet and not SFP (having an issue getting my SFP transceivers to work, but that's a separate problem).

My setup is as follows Fiber Line --> ONT --> ISP BGW210 Router (in IP passthrough mode)--> RB4011 --> TP Link TL-SG2216 switch --> (LAN)

Finally got it working,

the config was fine, the problem was more related to the ISP. I'm able to get more then 1gbe with the RB4011 now

I just bought a RB4011, but i plan to use my fiber to rj45 media converter, do you have a "how to" to help me get rid of the hh3k ?

Thanks !
