Install 2 Mikrotik routers in cascade

Thu Apr 18, 2019 1:40 am

Hi!
I have the following setup:
Internet Modem/Router from my provider, IP: 192.168.1.1. ----> ZyXEL 8 port switch ----> Mikrotik RB951Ui-2HnD (let's call it Router1) connected using the PoE injector.
Router 1 is in WISP AP router mode, the cabled or wireless devices work fine.

Yesterday I bought a second Mikrotik RB951Ui-2HnD (this is Router 2) and I configured it like the first one (WISP AP router mode). I need to connect this Router 2 (using its wall power supply this time) directly to the Router 1. I tried with an ethernet cable from the Port 2 of Router 1 to the Port 1 (PoE) of Router 2 but I cannot access the internet from Router 2.

I made a draw of my setup, hope it helps.
Thank you for any answer.

yor info about yr setup r not enough. I guess that if u have different subnets in every MT, u have to create a src.nat, to be able to see each other.

This are the configurations of the two routers:

Router 2

I tried to replace Router 2 with a common D-Link access point and it works

Re: Install 2 Mikrotik routers in cascade  [SOLVED]

Both routers use same IP address range, this can not work.
Change the IP address range on 2nd router to xxx.xxx.89.x for instance (and DHCP server etc).

TP Link works because it probably uses the classic 192.168.0.x/24 net

Thank you! It worked. But only using Winbox to configure the router. With Webfig it doesn't work, i don't understand why.
