iperf3 speed test results

Sat Jul 27, 2019 8:54 pm

Hello.

I just got My hex S unit and I'm testing it from all sides. In home I got incoming 1Gbps connection on both sides. As You can see in My new network topology I have a bit more complex network than usual home user as I have a server and dedicated WiFi AP unit. Before hex S I did connected My PC through Switch and I had 3 IPs from My ISP. Speed was great, 1Gbps everywhere I needed, WiFi AP got older Mikrotik whit less than stellar throughput and was connected to Switch, but it was fine for WiFi. I bought hex S so that My all home consuming devices would be on one network so I can annulate 3rd IP from ISP so I can have only two IPs - one for server and one for rest of devices under hex S. On old network setup whit iperf3 I did get full 1Gbps stable connection from My server, issues are on My new network. My connection to iperf3 server is not that great under hex S:

As You can see download can sustain around 900-940mbps as it should but bigger problem is upload. It is very unconsistant, jumps around from 600 to 900 mbps. Why is that? Is this normal behaviour? Download also can drop, but around 800mpbs, rarely 700mbps. My hex S config is pure default, except one open port. And Yes, I have tried testing on fully reset router to be sure. Funniest thing is that on Speedtest.net speeds are adequate (940 on both sides). Downloads from web (koyanet.lv ubuntu ISO for example) are fine, torrent downloads looks fine. Seems like there is issues whit iperf3 packet routing or something like that. I'm new and guessing, just learning networking and configuring Mikrotiks. CPU load is fine, >50% while testing.
