WIFI encryption question

Fri Jan 03, 2020 6:05 pm

Hello i have a quick question about encryption on WIFI.

Mikrotik allows you to choose aes ccm or tkip, but also allows to leave the field closed (not unchecked but closed - as in never defined).

Since the documentation does not state a default state of security.encryption (aes-ccm | tkip; Default: ) , what exactly would it mean if you have WPA2 PSK enabled but nothing selected in the security.encryption?

Would this mean an unencrypted connection, or would the group encryption take over since it is set to default aes?

Also is WPA2 PSK even possible without encryption?

If the encryption or group encryption is left empty then the CAPsMAN will use aes encryption by default.
