Hi everyone,
Since I'd like to get serious about learning networking, I'm thinking about buying either of the these two devices and enter in the Mikrotik world:

What really are the difference between the two devices?
Is it just a matter of port speed?
Can they both act as switches and manage VLANs?
Thank you

As you can see in the comparison, the 951G has only the gigabit ports. In my experience in real-world applications with the same configuration such as bandwidth management, you can only use gigabit on between host computers. You cannot increase its output from WAN to over 60Mbps, even if your internet connection is above 100mbps.

What makes you want to choose those over the hAP ac²?

With the hAP ac² you get better wireless (dual-band/w AC), much better CPU performance, in a package that isn't noticeably more expensive.

All RouterOS devices (with multiple Ethernet ports) can do what you want.

Yes, I'm going to buy this HAP ac². A friend of mine told me the same.
I'd like also to know if I can get internet connection via usb tethering from smartphones to this device, and also if this device can act as a Layer 3 swtich for interVlan

Thankyou
