GPS positioning NMEA forwarding configuration OpenCPN

Tue Nov 03, 2020 1:58 pm

How could the OpenCPN chart plotter software (opencpn.org) be configured in the best way to get the GPS data out of the MikroTik LtAP LTE6 kit?
It should be possible to read the GPS positioning data direct from the RBLtAP-2HnD & R11e-LTE6 router as a server (without pushing the data to a SQL server first).
Question is how can this be done in the easiest way? OpenCPN need a server IP pushing (NMEA forwarding) GPS position via UDP/TCP/GPSD/Signal K port.
When a GPS antenna is attached to the RBLtAP and the GPS modem is active it provides data.
We want to use this onboard a sailing yacht for navigation.

Please has anyone ideas to activate NMEA forwading direct from the RouterBOARD?

MikroTik really should add a "gpsd" optional package to RouterOS to make such things much easier....

Stuck with the same problem.
Finally it can be easily solved by translating UDP Mikrotik logs (containing all the NMEA0183 data) to NMEA TCP format.
Here is the script I've made for it:

So idea is simple: Mikrotik -> PC/Server -> OpenCPN / Navionics.
