It this an ARP issue?

Sat Mar 06, 2021 5:24 pm

Hello, I have two Mikrotik devices, one acts as gateway to internet and has four VLANs wired and wireless, the other one has just the 4 VLANs and acts as access point. I have a trunk port, so that the traffic for the VLANs flows between the two. The gateway also acts as openvpn server.

Both devices have an IP address on each of the VLANs. Thus the router has IP addresses 192.168.10.1, 192.168.20.1, 192.168.30.1, 192.168.40.1, while the access point has IP addresses 192.168.10.2, 192.168.20.2, 192.168.30.2, 192.168.40.2.

I noticed that when I am connected on the 192.168.10.* lan on the gateway, both wired and wireless, I cannot ping 192.168.10.2 . Curiously, if I connect with openvpn, I can ping it. I think this is probably because vpn clients are on the 192.168.11.* network, which gets correctly routed.

I suspect there must be some problem at ARP level, but I cannot understand what's wrong with my two devices. Probably I did a mistake with the bridges I configured, it's my first time with mikrotik devices, but I don't understand what's wrong.

Thank you in advance fir your help.
