Forwarder/proxy config

Wed Mar 31, 2021 2:49 pm

Hey all, noob here.

I have a MT currently setup as gateway between ISP and a LAN (RB LAN:192.168.5.1). For security, only one LAN device can access RB and access internet.

I now have to setup more user LAN PC's to connect to the internet, but without writing an essay on why and why-nots, I dont want them to have 192.168.5.1 as the gateway on their PC's. I want to setup a 2nd RB (say LAN IP 192.168.5.100) as the gateway for all the new PCs and have it direct all traffic to 192.168.5.1. With this I'll allow 192.168.5.100 access to RB 192.168.5.1.

Please help on how to configure the 2nd new RB.

Many Thanks

The docs are a decent reference for this service. The hotspot includes a setup function that I find works well.
/IP hotspot setup
It will prompt for the interface on which you wish to place the hotspot. All else is just about default, except:
if you're running a NATed net, when prompted for "masquerade network?", enter "no".
if you are doing not want to use SSL on the login page, enter "none" at the safety certificate prompt.
enter a username and password when prompted, and use it to check the hotspot setup.

The description of requirements is not going to lead to a good config.

Please describe the requirements without any mention of the config.

Also, why not just use a different subnet for the other users, you dont need another device RB!! to separate users within a Router.
