RBGPOE connected to PoE switch - will it block power request from source?

Fri Apr 16, 2021 1:15 pm

I have Linksys PoE switch powering 5 cameras and 3 mikrotik access points. Linksys is powered from UPS, therefore all devices work during power outage.

Thing is that I don't need APs to work during outage, I want my cameras to work few minutes longer. Do I need second PoE switch not attached to UPS and powerging APs only or can I use three RBGPOE injectors powered from outside UPS and plug them between PoE switch and access points? Will this work or when power is lost power request will travel through injector and switch will take back role of power supplying those 3 mikrotiks?

Linksys is PoE+ and AP are 2 cAP AC + wAP AC if that matters.

Mikrotik APs will work off PoE injectors just fine. Just make sure your Linksys doesn't accidentally output power on those ethernet ports where you'll have PoE injectors (could be it has some per-port setting regarding PoE, like on/auto/off ).
