I have to confess I find the sheer number of options in MikroTik a challenge, I'm trying to hang on till I learn enough to use them, or at least some of them!
I have Fibre 900 (which is fibre to the premises here in the UK) and problems setting up my MikroTik to replace the Smart Hub2, the provided router. I think I have the right credentials -
User = bthomehub@btbroadband.com
and
Password = BT
The MikroTik has the standard configuration loaded including firwall etc, with little or no changes. Apart from adding the PPPoE client.
I have loaded the IP6 package as I read somewhere this was important.
I have selected 'Peer DNS'
And the interface shows 'Connected' and 'Running' and I can see bits and bobs of data on the graph at the bottom of the page.
I've added Google 8.8.8.8 to my DNS page and I can see the BT DNS servers listed - which makes me think the connection is good... but
If I ping www.google.com or indeed anything else from within the MIkroTik interface it times out.
And there's no internet on anything connected to the lan ports of the MikroTik. My wife is saying 'buy a new router' and I'm looking enviously at my son's Ubiquiti kit.
But I am confident that MikroTik will triumph in the end.
Any suggestions?
