multipe network

Wed Jul 14, 2021 2:44 pm

Hi everyone,
I have just purchased some Mikrotik gear in an effort to teach myself about Mikroitk (removed all my Ubiquity products).

My issue is that I am struggling to get multiple networks to work properly, I have a router which has an Audience connected to it in my house. I have an Ethernet cable going from the router to a portable bungalo/studio. In the studio I have L3 switch which has another Audience coming off it (or wireless at the back of the property).

I am having trouble setting up a guest network and a private network.
private network:
  • some Ethernet ports on the router
  • a 5ghz and 2ghz wireless interface on both the Audiences
  • all ports on the switch in studio
guest network:
  • some Ethernet ports on the router
  • a 5ghz and 2ghz wireless interface on both the Audiences
  • no ports on the switch
I don't know the best way to set it up so that a guest can communicate with any other guest. And any of my devices on the private network can communicate with any device on the same network. The two networks cannot cross to the other.
I cannot figure out how to get the one ethernet cable connecting the switch to the router to have two networks on it.
Any help would be appreciated, even just a point in the right direction.

ps. all devices are running RouterOS
